COLOR CHALLENGE WEEK, Day 2

Here is a lil card I did for a friend who's been having a tough couple of weeks. Putting these three colors together is definately a challenge. Of course Mr. Holtz could pop out a vintage 3D wedding favor or birthday gift perhaps..actually using these three colors plus some.. LOL. For me.. this is it.. LOL. That ribbon actually has purple going through it..The whole ribbon part of this card was stressful... Don't try this without a helmet and knee pads..lemme tell ya!! Well, hopefully you gals out there can do a HECK of a lot better than me! And I'm positive give Mr. H a run for his altered money!! LOL.

2 MORE WOW CHALLENGE ENTRIES

Great layout by Janet with pics of Akins farms in Western Mass. Love it Janet!

OOPS,, I HAVE A CORRECTION TO THIS POST. KATE ACTUALY MADE THIS. KATE, I AM SOO SORRY. I GUESS I GOT CONFUSED. IT DOESNT" TAKE MUCH.. LOL.
Michele, oops I mean Kate sent this over.. THis is hysterical. She says "

I HATE snow, but one of my dearest friends just loves it. She has snowflake everything - snowflake towels, snowflake dishes, snowflake utensils, snowflake socks that she wears year-round, etc., etc.! Whenever it snows, we blame her - and she's always swamped with "angry" calls during the first snowfall of the year. I decided to make her a "threatening" card to drop at her house when the snow starts to fall this year. I know she'll get a huge kick out of this. I used Winter Frolic for the snowman and all his accessories, which I glittered. I used Design Studio to turn his smile into a frown. The snowy mountains were cut with Zooballoo and run through the Cuttlebug, using a snow folder and a little butterfly folder (using only the little dots for the peaks). The tree was cut from Christmas Cheer and I computer generated the sentiment. I also added some little beads.

WOW's by Carri, Jean and Celeste

I used Simply Charmed for the title and scarecrows on this layout. I used some glitter pens, googly eyes, mini buttons and a little flower gem to spruce up the little scarecrows a bit. I think they turned out super cute. I hand cut both layers of the mats for the photos. (I had already turned the Gypsy and Cricut off, so I just decided to measure them out and cut them myself. Old School Style you know, lol) I also used some leaf flat back buttons to embellish the photo areas. The background paper on this one came from a paperstack called vintage solids. The leaf paper that I used as the photo mat base came from a set of autumn papers that came from the Target $1 area. I love this Simply Charmed cart, because it has really cute cuts for basically every season.

WOW WEEK, Day 4

Here is a gorgeous card for our Weather challenge from our friend at hogwildaboutstamping.blogspot.com. She says "yes, winter is my favorite time of year! I love it when we get snow, but unfortunately we don't get very much of it where I live. Maybe that's why I like it so much? I had asked her if the snowflake was croched and she said " I crocheted a ton of different snowflakes during a heat wave we had last month in an effort to make myself feel cooler! Told you I love snow! LOL!"

WOW WEEK, Day 3

Here is a GORGEOUS card from our friend Rhonda at bumblebee creations This very talented gal sent this over for our challenge. And, this is what she had to say have to say " it is a toss up for me between Autumn and Spring--but since it is almost Autumn now, I went with that one!! The crisp air--somehow always seems fresher this time of the year-I love the idea of the corn mazes and pumpkins, squash and apples from this season too!I made a card-using mostly SU papers and ribbon, and the image actually came from a "Heartwarming Vintage Booklet " made by Crafty Secrets. I added the white gel pen dots to my square punch outs-even before I decided to use the ribbon--I love it when it comes together like that! (by accident)!! I also added a few punched out branches from my Martha stewart punch.'

WOW Week - Day Two

Hello everyone. For WOW week, I dug deep in my stash. I made this page a long time ago. I could have used this page for Old School week as well. Everything on this page is StampinUP! My friend Susan (fellow blogger) held a class that was 12 scrapbooking pages. I was soo new to scrapbooking.

This was definately a pre-cricut page. Everything is stamped, or just cut out by hand. The back ground of the paper is stamped. Not patterend paper, StampingUP cardstock, which is a scrappers must have!!

I do love the colors and the final project. I am going to have to get busy using these pages and takes some family fall pictures this season. Fall in New England is beautiful.

HAPPY MONDAY!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. This weeks theme will be WOW. Which stands for Week of Weather. I know,, goofy! LOL Well, here in New England, the weather had gone from hot sunny days to crisp fall ones. I love living here and watching the seasons change. Fall is such a fun time. Watching the leaves change into beautiful colors, picking apples and pumpkins, apple pies, cider donuts.. MMMM and the smells this time of year are just full of memories! I'd love to hear about favorite weather in your neck of the woods. Send in a card, layout, tag, or whatever that shows one of your fun "weather" times. Getting caught in the rain, shoveling snow and snowball fights, storms, sunny beach days...whatever floats your weather boat!

This is a prize challenge. I'll pick two lucky winners on Sunday eve 9/19. Here's the prize! Two sheets of chipboard shapes, 4 sheets if coordinating papers and two sticker sheets that coordinate with shapes ---not shown...but I will get them up----
Have fun and mail on over to me so I can post ACHILDINMIND@aol.com

TOOL, TIPS, TECHNIQUES, one last toy! LOL

Don't be afraid.. LOL. It say this because I was!!! It's the Crop-A-Dile and it is soo easy even a caveman can do it. No offense to any cavemen or woman out there..LOL. Anyway, First, you hole punch. On the outsides are the hole punches. Big and small. you line it up like any other hole punch on your whatev and squeeeeeeze. Second, you drop the eyelet in the hole you just made. You can see my elelets in my pink case on the side of the COD. Third, you set your cube dials that are in the center of the COD, then stick your item with the eyelet you dropped in, line it up betwen the cubes and squeeeeeeeze.

That's it.. eyelet is set,, run your ribbon, thread, twine, etc. right on through.. easssssy peeeeaassy!! This is a VERY useful tool. They have all kinds of shaped eyelets, from stars, to pumpkins to cirlces..you name it. Borrow one from a friend if he/she's got one and give it a squeeeeze!! You'll be hooked!

TOOLS, TIPS , TECHNIQUES & STUFF, Day 5

Here are two of my favs when it comes to inking/chalking. I'm not a huge stamper, but I do like to ink the edges of my pages.. I may even have "over-ink-edging-itis" LOL. Anyway. I was having such a problem with the larger sized inkpads, fumbling and stuff & Laurie told me to get on board with these STAMPIN' UP Ink spots, these are the bold brites. Love em, and sooooo easy to handle and they pack quite the color punch.. long lasting.. great great to have in your crop bag..they fit nicely in a craft carrier. You can have so many colors with you and not take up much space. The other is Powder Puff chalking inks by Quick Quotes, Marachino cherry and Tahiti. Me and Laurie went to the CK convention and got these in a class. We both thought that the colors weren't really fantab, but lemme tell ya.. they work for everything. If you want to try these and only have a few bucks in ur budge, get these colors...I PROMISE u'll luv em. We both use them all the time and are amazed time after time how well these colors go with everything. We chalk with passion.. I think we have " Too-much-chalk-itis" LOL. I am definately going to ask Santa for more of the chalking inks and another set of the spots. Anybody else have a fav. ink?

Red is Powder puff,, green is SU

ALTERNATIVE TO TOOL BELOW

I just read this idea: Take a glue dot and put it on the end of a stylus! Has same idea and if you have those items already.. no cost.

TIPS, TECHNIQUES, TOOLS and Stuff, Day 3

QUICK STIK

I LOVE THIS ..This is my favority fave! It's the QuickStik by Quick Kutz.

I use this for everything from bling, googly eyes, brads, buttons etc. It is has a sticky tip almost like puddy that picks up everything! It beats the tweezers by a long shot!. I'lll tell you.. get one of these babies and keep close by, you'd be amazed how often you use it.. It's great to use to find that "needle in the haystack" like above where all my brads got dumped into one compartment and I wanted just the pink one. I would have gone crazy trying to get my fingers around that particular one, not to mention getting stabbed by the brads along the way.. lol and when your object is bulky, the tweezers often slip.. not here....you just lower this tool into a jar full of small embellies and stick it to what you want and pull it on out! It has saved me ooodles of frustrations. They go for about 4-5$ bucks and with a coupon..even less! Does anybody know of any other uses for this?? has anybody tried this?? Let us know :) Wow can you feel the love?? LOL. Yikes, I used to be pationate about many other things, now this.. I'm officially a scrap nerd.. LOL
