PRIZE CHALLENGE...Taking a "new" look at CHIPBOARD & BUSY PAPER.............

On this page we decided to "let the paper do the work".  Kel brilliantly thought we should let the paper work as an embellishment too!  With the simple addition of chipboard let to this busy paper, this page layed out itself. I am sure we all have buckets of chipboard and never find the right piece of paper to adhere it too. But putting it on busy piece of paper, really lets the chipboard shine. The 4th July circle came from Dawn, so cute.

Check out last Sunday's post for the challenge and prize!

FAMILY

Here is a layout I did using my favorite color combo. I really like red, black and white together. I like the different patterns in the papers and flowers of the same 3 colors too. I'm pretty sure that I cut the letters from the CM This and That Cartridge, and the paper flowers are CM too. I LOVE these paper flowers. They come in so many different sets. The colors are endless. I basically just adjusted them in a border type fashion and called it a day.

WE MADE IT... SWEEEEET!

This was a fun day I spent with my family at a huge hay maze. I don't know if anybody has done these, but they can be quite intense. Some take hours to find a way out. Well, we almost did it in minutes. My husband is diabetic and all of a sudden his sugar starts to drop a bit about 20 mins. into the maze. So not too much of a big deal, he just needs a sweet. So, onward we go on the hunt for a staff member to guide us out. Well in the process of looking, turning corners, and taking path after path, we were just SO good at mazing, that within minutes we hit our first check point! We are like.... Whew, we are out of here! Well the kids get their little stickers for finding a check point... THEN we couldn't believe that the prize for hitting a check point was of all things.. A handful of CANDY!, lol. So, my hub had a few pieces and we were on our way. We spent about another hour or so in there and they paid a buck for a map that helps you cheat your way out. I give it to all the extreme mazers out there, its HARD!

So with that experience, I had to scrap this. Here is another LO I embellished with CM products The adorable fence border is done with the NEW CM BORDER MAKER SYSTEM. This thing is awesome. It's easy and they have great cartridges! I plan on getting mine soon and I will post al lthe deets for you. It's a MUST HAVE. The lettering was done by none other than the THIS AND THAT CM cartridge. I told you I fell in love.. LOL.

HERE KITTY...KITTY....

Here is one of the LO's I did at my weekend crop. This is my cat Ocho. My son named him. I have no idea why he named her after the Spanish name for the number 8, LOL, but he did. We adopted him from a friend who does foster care for cats. This little guy was born of an unhealthy, beat up looking stray in her neighborhood and we just fell in love. He is healthy and happy now and runs and jumps in and out of anything and everywhere.. LOL. His favorite food is Peppers! Go figure! The crop I attended was sponsored by Creative Memories and I got this very easy layout idea from the CM Idea book. It's a must have, it's filled with. OOOODles of great ideas!! The letters and the paw print are cut from the CM THIS and THAT cartridge. I LOVE this cartridge!

OLD SCHOOL? LOL

Here is a page I did of my kids on their first day of school. Which year it is, I have no frikken idea.. LOL. I started scrapping when these guys were like 15 and 17, So, anything prior to 2009 is a blurr.. LOL. I did leave some space to journal in their ages and year, so I will do it. My daughter will know exactly when and where just by looking at her particular outfit and backpack. I at least journaled about how I love to take their picture under that particular tree and how they always looked so happy, etc.
I used the Creative Memories Page Planner book and found this layout. The book tells you exactly what papers , embellies and tools to use to duplicate it. Because I was at a CM crop, I was able to get up from my seat, turn around to the table and buy and use what I needed right there and then. It was awesome! I even have supply leftovers.. LOL
The little SEPT. ticket is 7 Gypsies

LIVE LOVE AND SMILE!

Here's a few pics that were taken at completly different times, but I liked them because they are of the 4 of us and everybody is actually smiling.. LOL I love to look back at my kids when they were just wee little ones. They used to JUMP in front of the camera with huge smiles. Now, yikes, you gotta pin em' down to get a shot.. LOL. Anyway, I saw this layout idea in a Page Map book and really liked it. I have so much twine and string and stuff and never use it, so here it is. I had gotten the paper clips from Staples. They have this little area in which they have buckets of all different kinds of paper clips. From cat shaped, to guitar shaped to dotted.. to colored.. All kinds. You fill a small clear bucket for like $3 bucks. It was fun to put them use!

YAY SENIOR YEAR!

These were pictures my daughter and I took of her going back to her senior year of high school and her new Senior shirt. She was nuts about it.. LOL. It's too cute how they made the R into 12! I went simple on this page. I had a few chipboard pieces that I think I picked up and put down 25 times and FINALLY decided to glue them to something.. LOL

THE BEST IS YET TO BE

Here is a great great layout that Dawn did for me a few years back. I love the colors.. I love how she cut out the circle prints and pop dotted them up.. Clever!

The picture was taken at Laurie's 4th of July party. I had no idea she took it. She suprised me with it ! I've displayed it in my house everyday since, I absolutely love it and I get compliments on it all the time . My husband is diabetic and has stage 4 kidney failure and struggles a lot with it and has to endure dialysis 4 days a week, and many times when he gets down, and we worry about the future, I'll look at that picture and read the quote. "Grow old with me, the best is yet to be" Thanks Dawn.

One And A Half Men

Here is my son and his lil kitty "Ocho" They were just hanging out on the couch so I grabbed my camera. The papers I used for this is from the "LUCKY" workshops on the Go by CTMH. I added some Tim Holtz hardware and a chipboard strip down the right side and there ya have it!

BEACH BABE

This is my daughter when she was a lil younger at York Beach in Maine. They've grown up playing at this beach. I didn't get too fancy scrapping these pics, I got the idea from "Page Maps 2". I thought it was kinda cool how they had the cardstock colors the same and just defined them by inking the edges, so I thought I'd try it. I like how it came out.

LIL MAN

Here's a quick LO I did over at Laurie's house last Friday. I haven't really been scrapping much as most of my scrapping things are still in boxes from moving twice over the summer. However, I did dig through and find a few things to work with. This is my son's 1st bday. He just turned 19 in August, I'm a bit behind in my scrapping.. LOL!!! I didn't do much with this other than layer some paper and I covered a few pieces of chipboard, but it was fun to get a bit back into the scrappin' swing of things!

Kelly's Home Decor Project

Kel is having trouble with blogger, shocking I know!! Someone really needs to fix the issues everyone is having, lol!!

Kel and her daughter love, love anything Twilight.

Here are the deets:
I did this for Amanda's room, she has a vampire-ish theme happening, and wanted a little something for a new shelf she put up in her new room. It's so much fun to do stuff like this for her :)

I used Happy Hauntings cartridge
I cut at 1.5 inches
AND, did the shadow correctly.. LOL
I inked the edges with the marachino cherry
I got the frame at a yard sale :)

I am not a Twilight fan, but I love this. I think so clever and outstide the box (even though it's in a box, lol).

Awesome job Kel!!

Hope everyone is keeping cool!

BABY BOY

With all the talk about baby boys yesterday, I thought I'd post this. It's a page I did for an 8x8 album I did for my nephews son. YIKES..I feel like my nephew was just born and he is 26! My own baby boy is 18. WOW, where does the time go??? This is pretty simply done. With and 8x8 I feel you don't want to squish the page up with too much stuff.. So, some inking, a border, a sticker and the cute lil bib from The CM Special Delivery cricut cartridge was all I needed for this page. Now go hug your babies no matter if they are 2 months or 30 years !! Enjoy your day!

CHIC

And yet another one from yesteryear.. LOL. Back in my "just started scrapping" days. I think I really liked the tearing technique. Eh, still do. The scallops are from a CM punch. I really love this punch. It does both layers. Pretty cool! The word CHIC was done on the Cricut and I obviously had no clue how to shadow my letters..but I went with it. LOL. I stamped down the left side and pretty much, that's all she wrote. This pic is of my daughter when she first got her prescription sunglasses.. Woo hoo!

BLOOM

Here is another LO I did back a long while ago.. It was before the days of buying pre-made flowers so I made my own by cutting up shapes.. The word Bloom is made of chipboard letters. I also used the Fiskars embossing sytem to hand draw and hand space the embossed hearts into the strip on the left. With Cuttlebug and Petaloos, I can now save myself about 1 hour.. LOL and do the same thing now.. LOL. Title says: Childhood ends when the novelty of make-believe wears off....may you always believe

ATTITUDE

Here is a LO I did a long while back.. I had seen the idea for the barbed wire look and the cardboard in some book, I forget. The barbed wire is easy. You draw wavy lines in a thick black marker..you go inside the same lines with white, and along the way you make the 3 vertical lines 2 long and one short in the middle. Easy peasy stuff and it really looks pretty cool I think.. The cardboard is just some I found around and I pulled off the top layer to expose the bumpy texture I wanted. I originally saw the techniques used on a boys page..to make it look rough and tough I guess.. But, thats' my daughter many times..LOL.. So I did it for her

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Hi ladies. I cannot say enough about how much I love thie Nancy O'Dell template and page planner set from Creative Memories! It's easy peasy. I am moving, so I came across soooooo many boxes of pictures. I was overwhelmed and had no idea how I'd even begin to tackle scrapping them. After getting rid of over half of them that were doubles or had me or my husbands finger in the shot, lol, I sorted them by event or theme. I then pulled out the CM templates and I had pages done in minutes! The plates have all the measurements on them...its a breeze. The book has every idea for every occasion you can imagine! This is what I came up with. Twelve pics..done..scrapped..love it!. It's a collage of my family at this place in Maine we go to. In fact, my daughter is the gal on the swing in the middle on the cover of the brochure.. LOL. Pardon the darkness of the photos...it's so gloomy cloudy here.. there is absolutely no natural sunlight anywhere...waaahaaa
