Scrap Organizing

Happy Friday!! I have been on a mission to organize my scrap room (or the scrap-attic, as my kids call it, since that is where it is). My wonderful hubby, for my birthday, tore apart the closet in the room, stripped the paper, painted it and put up awesome shelving.

My DD and I took a ride up to her fave store, Five Below where I found these cool clear bins. I love that I can just look and see what is in them. I may still label them, just because I love playing with the P-Touch labeler.

I got this black shelving unit from IKEA (online - I still need to take the drive to check out the store in person!). 12x12 albums fit perfectly in this unit. I already need another one. They are stackable, but I am not sure that I would trust them stacked in my old, crooked house. They are very heavy and sturdy!

I also spent some time organizing my paper. I already had these 12x12 drawers, but I had scraps and whole pieces of paper mixed in together. I cleaned all the scraps out so that now all that is in the drawers are nice, clean full pieces, sorted by color. You can also see my Clip It Up bars that keep my stickers and other packaged embellies organized. the file cabinets are filled with miscellaneous "stuff:" and really need an overhaul, too. But hey, if I can't see it ..... ;)

All my scraps wound up in 12x12 storage boxes that are under my table, but I don't think they are going to stay that way for long. Laurie has all her scraps in a tote that has separators like a file folder. I may have to steal that idea. I had no clue how many scrap pieces I had! I will be going to those for cards and embellies before cutting up any full sheets! One other thing that I have done is sort my rubons by theme and put them in a hanging file folder (red and white bin under the table).

I think I am almost done with organizing ... maybe there will be some actual scrapping in the scrap-attic soon!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. WOW!!!! Dawn, this is AMAZING!! What a wonderful hubby to do that for you!! Shelves make a big difference!! I am only half way through re organizing my room. I got my new drawers from IKEA! I love that place, but next time I will not bring my hubby. He puts up with a lot, but I could tell by the look on his face, that we would not be there long. It is an experience!! Although I think he would have let me buy anything if it meant that we would get out of the store any quicker! (maybe there is something to that!! Great job!! Karen♥
